Air Products Again Named Top Service Provider to China Chemical Parks
Air Products (NYSE: APD), a world-leading industrial gases company, has again been named Top Service Provider to China Chemical Parks by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF). The award, which was presented at the 2018 China Chemical Industry and Chemical Park Forum in Zhuhai last week, recognizes the company’s proven track record in professionally supplying domestic chemical parks over the years.
Air Products Again Named Top Service Provider to China Chemical Parks Organized by CPCIF, a non-profit government thinktank for the industry’s management, the award recognizes companies who provide excellent services to chemical parks and are competitive in areas including safety and environmental performance. Endorsement by chemical parks is a key selection factor.
“It is a great honor for us to again receive this prestigious award as a leading industrial gases supplier,” said Saw Choon Seong, China president, Industrial Gases, Air Products. “We are very happy to see our integrated gas supply solutions and innovative gas applications continue to support the sustainability initiatives of China’s chemical parks and the ongoing transformation and upgrading of the chemical industry under the 13th Five-Year Plan. We look forward to bringing value to more customers and parks with our deep industry know-how and solid expertise for improving productivity, safety and environmental performance.”
With China’s 13th Five-Year Plan calling for innovation and moving the economy up the value chain towards more sustainable growth, its petroleum and chemical industries are undergoing transformation and upgrading to produce higher value-added products under stringent environmental regulations. Chemical parks play a key role in this process and are in need of more sophisticated management, including integrated planning and operation of public utilities such as industrial gases, wastewater treatment and VOC recovery, among others.
Air Products has established a solid position in the chemical industry. It has built gas supply pipeline systems in leading chemical parks in Nanjing, Tianjin, Cangzhou and Shenyang to serve customers from oil refiners to various petrochemical companies. In Nanjing Chemical Industry Park, Air Products has secured a leading integrated supply position serving over 30 companies in the park and hundreds of liquid gases customers in the city. In January 2016, the company signed a framework agreement with Dalian Xizhong Island Petrochemical Park, one of China’s seven refinery and petrochemical bases, to supply industrial gases for companies in the park.
At the Zhuhai Forum, Air Products shared its insights and global experience in providing integrated gases supply solutions to chemical parks with complete industry supply chains ranging from oil refining and coal gasification to high-end chemical production. The benefits of these solutions in enabling efficiency, synergy, resource and cost savings were highlighted. The company’s innovative and sustainable offerings for chemical parks, such as Halia® wastewater treatment technology, Cryo-condap® VOC recovery solution, and oxyfuel enrichment technology for sulfur recovery, were also featured at the Forum.
Air Products acquired Shell’s coal gasification technology business and formed a strategic alliance with Shell for liquids (residue) gasification for refineries earlier this year, further extending the company’s integrated gases offerings in syngas to provide turnkey sale-of-gas gasification facilities to serve domestic petrochemical and chemical companies and parks.
